NC State University

As a second-year student at NC State, I am pursuing a double major in Biological Sciences (concentrating in Human Biology) and Environmental Sciences, alongside plans for a Statistics minor. My heart is in research, particularly at the intersections of epidemiology, entomology, and microbiology. When I am not studying or working on scientific data visualization and graphing, I am often out foraging for wild mushrooms or exploring natural ecosystems.

On campus, I stay active in the community by volunteering two hours a week in the NCSU Theatre Department sewing shop, supporting production wardrobe construction, and attending departmental shows. I also build side projects in my free time, including designing and managing my personal website here (abby-crawford.com). I am currently seeking research opportunities, lab positions, and internships to apply my skills in data analysis, math, and biological sciences.

Leesville Road High School

My high school years was where my passion for science, digital media, and storytelling first came together. Alongside a heavy course load of AP classes in English, History, and AP Art, I spent all four years on the staff of The Mycenaean, Leesville’s student newspaper. As the official website manager and a senior editor, I learned to code and design for the web, mastered Adobe InDesign, and managed our digital publications.

Outside the classroom, I balanced my time between academics, work, and community service. I was an active member of the National Art Honor Society, Rho Kappa (National Social Studies Honor Society), and the National English Honor Society. I also worked for three years at Harris Teeter and volunteered regularly with Second Chance Pet Adoptions, all while building lifelong friendships and finding creative outlets.
